Carol T. (Frye) Spoonhoward, 73, of Herminie No. 2, passed away suddenly, Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born Feb 23, 1944, in Herminie, a daughter of the late Elmer R. and Marie I (Bohinc) Frye, of North Irwin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Spoonhoward Jr.; and her sister, Eileen Brady. Early on, Carol worked as a collector at C and S Adjusters and as a caregiver for many years. After retiring, she drove for Uber and loved all of the people she would meet from all over the world. She was very talented with all types of crafts such as stained glass, crocheting, painting, flower arranging and drawing. She was also a very skilled baker with some of her bests being her sticky buns, Potica and her fruit pies, which are legendary. She also took great pride in her orchids and violets and loved to pamper them. She is survived by her son, James B. Spoonhoward III, at home; a daughter, Veronica (Bosch) Tillman, of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, James B. Spoonhoward IV, at home, Crystal Gantt and Domonique Wilson, of Pittsburgh and Cherise Gantt, of Jeanette; a brother, Gerald (Dolores) Frye, of Irwin; also 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. Carol is also survived by Christy Jester, of Delaware, who was like an adopted daughter to her. She will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she has made over the years near and far. She is finally at peace and retired with Jim somewhere in Arizona now, Heaven over Arizona has no humidity. There will be no public visitation, per Carol's wishes. A memorial gathering to celebrate Carol's life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at the Herminie Fire Hall, 101 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637. Arrangements are by JOSEPH W.
