Dorothy Laben Welty, 89, of Herminie, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in St. Vincent Health System, Erie, surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 14, 1929, in Herminie, daughter of the late James and Rose (Prost) Laben. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Welty, in 1996. Dorothy graduated from Indiana State Teacher's College (now Indiana University of Pa.). Prior to her retirement, she was an elementary school teacher, having taught at H.W. Good Elementary School in Sewickley Township for many years. She was a past member of Herminie United Methodist Church. She and her husband moved from Herminie to Erie in 1993. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Rebecca (Richard) Kaminsky, of Peters Township, Constance (Michael) Holupka, of Butler, and Laura Glaser, of Erie; a son, Paul F. (Dawn) Welty, of Canonsburg; five special grandchildren, Dr. Alex (Laura) Glaser, of Chicago, Marie Glaser, of Erie, Grace (John) Jerasa, of Hermitage, Katherine Holupka, of Bellevue, and Rachel Kaminsky, of Southpointe; special great-grandson, Jackson Paul Glaser; three sisters, Janet (Donald) Ryan, of Lower Burrell, Elaine Good, of North Huntingdon, and Margaret Gimera, of Canonsburg; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. "Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251.
