Frederick G. Koslow, 88, of Irwin, passed away Monday, July 30, 2018, in Transitions Healthcare, North Huntingdon, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 25, 1930, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Charles B. and Catherine C. (Gallagher) Koslow. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Charles Koslow. Fred was proud to be an Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was a construction supervisor, having worked for Peoples Natural Gas for more than 30 years. He was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie, Holy Name Society, Herminie VFW Post 9827 and the Manor American Legion Post 472. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his family. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, M. Celeste (Popp) Koslow; daughter, Celeste (John) Dirk, of New Jersey; a son, Paul F. (Kelly) Koslow, of Irwin; four special grandchildren, Niki (Dustin) Wiltrout, Justin Dirk, and Brianna and Colton Koslow; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Fred was a very special outgoing man and never met a stranger; he will forever be remembered and dearly missed. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Interment with full military honors will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Greensburg.
