Julie H. Suchko, 74, of Lowber, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, at her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1944, in Greensburg, daughter of Eleanor (Wilson) Horvath of Rillton and the late Michael Horvath. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Mark and Michael David Horvath. Julie was still working part time at K-Vays Restaurant, where she had worked since the late 1980s at the original K-Vays in Rillton. She was a member of St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church in Herminie and was a volunteer at First United Church of Christ in Irwin for more than 50 years, helping with all the socials and flea markets, and always lending a hand at the church. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines, and loved to travel. But most of all, she loved working at the restaurant and being with her family and friends. In addition to her beloved mother, Julie is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George R. Suchko; a sister, Barbara (Luke) St.Onge, of Colorado; two brothers, Douglas Horvath, of Rillton, and Paul Horvath, of Oregon; two nieces and four nephews; and great-nieces, great nephews and cousins whom she loved dearly. Julie's smile and caring ways will forever be remembered. She will be sadly missed by her family, many friends she has made over the years, and her neighbors. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Herminie, with Father Leonard J. Cornelius, OFM, as celebrant. Entombment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. Parastas Services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
