Alida L. (Gossin) Prewett

Alida L. Prewett, 95, of Herminie, passed away peacefully on  Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her family.  
She was born July 21, 1929, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Frederick and Alice Mae (McCelland) Gossin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William H. “Harry” Prewett in 1999; her grandson, Christian Englebert; a brother, Frederick Gossin  and sister, Thelma Cermak. 
Alida is survived by her two daughters, Linda (William) Miller of Meadville and Debra Costanzo of Herminie, with whom she resided; three special grandchildren, Brianne (Matt) McClellan, Ian (Carrie) Costanzo and Aaron Martin; seven special great-grandchildren, Austin, Alianna, Noah, Vivian, Westin, Rylie and Max; several nieces and nephews great-nieces and great-nephews.
Prior to her retirement, Alida worked for US Steel in McKeesport as a Grinder/Hooker. She was so proud to wear a hard hat and steel toed boots. 
She was a past member of the Irwin United Methodist Church and Universal Life Healing Center in Irwin.  She enjoyed singing in the church choir, was a bible school teacher and  was also a Girl Scout leader for many years. Her hobbies included, sewing her own clothes, horseback riding, painting and genealogy. She would love to just sit and play the piano and organ at her home throughout the day. Alida was also a member of the Herminie Senior Center and was so honored to have played Mrs. Claus for the Light-up parade in town for several years. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Her special love for her family, will forever be remembered. The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice and especially her nurse, Brenda and her aide, Melanie for all their love and support.
