Aurelia M. “Smitty” Rapp, 73, of Herminie (Keystone), peacefully passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2025, at The Grove in Irwin, surrounded by her family. She was born July 6, 1952 in Greensburg, daughter of the late Hugh and Teresa (Faletto) Smith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, George T. Rapp and three brothers, Jim, Jack, Hugh “Sonny” Smith.
Aurelia graduated from Sewickley High School, Class of 1970. Prior to her retirement, she was a tax accountant, having worked for H&R Block in Irwin for 28years. She was also a nurse aide at Westmoreland Manor for many years. Aurelia was a member of Saint Edward Church in Herminie and a member of the Yukon VFD Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and loved to cross stitch. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her grandchildren, going to all their sporting events. Mom was always there rooting her grands on and everyone else’s BUT she wouldn’t have missed any games. Always there in heart and spirit.
Aurelia is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Gary G. Rapp Sr; two sons, Gary G. (Jackalyn) Rapp Jr. of Harrisburg and Hugh P. Rapp Sr. of Herminie; five special grandchildren, Lee Rapp, Teresa (Daniel) Arango, Landon Rapp, Isabella Rapp and Hugh P. Rapp Jr.; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 20, 2025 at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Friday, November 21, 2025 in Saint Edward Church in Herminie with Rev. David Nazimek as celebrant.
