Betty J. Medved, 83, of North Huntingdon, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Greensburg, daughter of the late George F. and Verna (Notovich) McGrew Sr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, George F. (JoJo) McGrew Jr.; sister, Scherry A. Hauliska and her husband, Glenn, and nephew, Glenn Hauliska Jr. Betty was a homemaker and nurse’s aide for many years. She enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo. She was a member of the Herminie United Methodist Church in Herminie. She loved spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her loving and caring husband of 64 years, Steve Medved; two daughters, Deborah (Roger) Guzewicz, of Delaware, and Janet (Rob) Hassen, of Greensburg; two sons, Stephen Medved Jr., of Greensburg, and Kenneth (Donna "Dee" ) Medved, of West Newton; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Jimmy) Matthews, of Madison; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Betty will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday April 4, 2023, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME, 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, with Pastor Barry Henck officiating. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Herminie United Methodist Church, 3365 Pike St., Herminie, PA 15637, in memory of Betty.
