Carol Demalon Obituary

Carol M. Demalon, 60, of Herminie, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2022, in AHN West Penn, Pittsburgh, with her loving husband and daughter by her side. She was born Nov. 12, 1961, in Greensburg, daughter of Clara "Dee"(Soukup) Holmquist, of Herminie, and the late Glenn R. Holmquist. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Leonard E. Demalon, and sister-in-law, Patricia Carroll. Carol was a 1979 graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School and a 1983 graduate of Seton Hill University of Greensburg. Prior to her illness she was employed by Trib Total Media in Greensburg as an ad service manager for more than 15 years. She was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie, the Herminie VFW Auxiliary and was also a member of the Clairton Anglers Club. She loved shooting at the gun range and was a Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Carol enjoyed life to its fullest. She loved the outdoors, traveling, riding motorcycles, camping in her RV (aka glamping in her words) and spending time at their home in Somerset. She enjoyed flowers and vegetable gardening. She loved going to the theater, both in Pittsburgh and in New York. She loved playing Bocce at her brother's court and in her younger years playing volleyball and softball. But most of all spending time with her grandchildren always made her days extra special. Carol is survived by her loving and caring husband of 39 years, Mark L. Demalon; her daughter, Jacqueline (William) Sullenberger, of New Stanton; three very special grandchildren, Madisyn, Camron and Claira, whom she loved dearly; two sisters, Diane (Robert) Murphy, of Wexford, and Kathleen Cochran, of Herminie; two brothers, Dennis (Cindy) Holmquist, of Pittsburgh, and Glenn Holmquist, of Herminie; mother-in-law, Marie Demalon, of North Huntingdon; three sisters-in-law, Cheryl (Larry) Yurek, of South Carolina, Lisa (Ross) Alessandro, of North Huntingdon, and Stephanie Demalon, of North Irwin; brother-in-law, Gerald Carroll, of South Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her brother, Glenn, and sister, Kathy, for all their support and care over the past 11 years. They also would like to thank Dr. Thomas Krivak of AHN West Penn Gynecologic Oncology for being so vested in Carol's treatment and care. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 21, 2022, in St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, in Herminie, with Father Vincent Yee-Concepcion as celebrant. JOSEPH W.
