Clarice (Anthony) Smith 85, of Herminie, passed away Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, in Hempfield Manor, Greensburg. She was born Oct. 19, 1936, in Wendel, a daughter of the late Waldo L. and Domenica (Sensue) Anthony Jr. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel W. "Sam" Smith Jr. Prior to her retirement, Clarice was an office clerk, having worked for the Standard Observer and the Tribune-Review for many years. She was a past member of Herminie No. 2 United Methodist Church. She enjoyed reading, watching TV game shows and cooking shows. She loved spending time with her family and keeping in touch with her work friends. Clarice is survived by her children, Valerie (John) Sever, of Hutchinson and Sam C. (Tammy) Smith, of Irwin; six grandchildren, Jessica (Mike) Sullenberger, Travis Sever, Jesse Stewart ( Nicole Arnold), Molly Smith, and Noah and Faith Smith; a sister, Bernice Armstrong, of Herminie No. 2; three sisters-in-law, Betty Dopkowski, of Arona, Joyce Smith, of Latrobe and Virgie Smith, of North Irwin; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great nephews. Clarice will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A private family funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Bruce Anthony officiating.
