Connie Caviggia Obituary

Constance E. Caviggia, 90, of Herminie, passed away peacefully, Saturday, Dec. 29, 2023, in AHN Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 24, 1933, in New Kensington, a daughter of the late George and Julia (Hanna) Esper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one bother, John; and six sisters, Margaret, Minnie, Louise, Dorothy, Gladys and Ester. Connie "Situ" was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie, where she would love to volunteer making perogies and helping with the spaghetti dinners with her dear friends, Elsie, Bootise and Joanie. Throughout their 64 years of marriage, she loved to travel with Leo and spend many wonderful adventures together. Every night, Leo would sing the "I love you song" to Situ before they went to bed. It was not uncommon to walk into their house and them be dancing in the kitchen, Leo singing "Spanish Eyes" in her ear. Every morning, Connie would greet Leo with "good morning my love." They truly taught us the true meaning of love and commitment. She was also the recipient of the "perfect daughter" award, which always made her smile. Last but not least, when someone would walk in the door, "Situ" would have a pot of coffee ready and a "jumbo" sandwich awaiting them, even if they were not hungry. She also was famous for her sauce, which was always on the stovetop. Connie "Situ" is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, Elio "Leo" D. Caviggia; two special daughters, Jamie Lee (Doug) Caviggia, of Mt. Pleasant, and LisaJo (Rob) Phillips, of West Newton; four special grandchildren, Nicholas (Timberlyn), Christopher (Liz), Tori (Hoang) and Shane (Luzia); four special great-grandchildren, Alexia, Aubrey, Ava and Lydia; her daughter of her heart, Kathy (John) Sior and their family, Pat (Tif) and Brandon (Anissa); numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and several special godchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Her family would like to extend much appreciation to all family members and friends who are also family, who have given so much love and support to their family throughout these years. Farewell Connie, our Jovi and Situ, you will forever be remembered for the love given to your family and friends. Per Connie's wishes, there will be no public visitation. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Please go directly to church.
