David E. Calcagni

David E. Calcagni, 65, of Ruffsdale, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2022, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Feb. 6, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Elmit L. and Pearl (Nagy) Calcagni. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Alan Calcagni. David was a member of Seven Dolors Church, in Yukon. He had a long and diverse career beginning in high school working at Shuster's Builders in Irwin, for his brother at Cal's Dairy Bar, then onto sales/delivery routes including Snyder's Potato Chips and Brownberry/ Entenmann's, NAPA Auto Parts, all while tending bar on the side at Billy's Grill, Carol and Tony's 1776 Tavern in Greensburg, Crusan's in Youngwood and Jay's Bar in Yukon, and finally at Chums Country Market in Ruffsdale. David was known for his cleanliness and friendly hello with handshake, but most importantly his steadfast loyalty to whatever he was committed to, and above all his extreme honesty. He loved to cook, enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music and reading classics. David is survived by his two daughters, Chelsea and Emilee Calcagni; brother, Brian (Mary) Calcagni, of Blairsville; niece, Shana (Crawford) Calcagni-Wilson, of Greensburg; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. The family would like to thank Dr. Viverette/PA Rachel and Staff at Arnold Palmer Cancer Center, Excela Health nurses at Westmoreland and Excela Health Hospice nurses that provided great care with upmost compassion (Daryann and Wendy). A special thank you to Patty Bowman for her kindness, comfort and loyal friendship she gave to my brother, Dave, throughout his life and in his final days here. A memorial with inurnment will take place at a time to be announced in Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township, to celebrate David's life. JOSEPH W.
