Delores M. "Dee" (Stokum) Couchenour, 88, of Herminie, passed away Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, in Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Irwin. She was born Jan. 20, 1927, in Grindstone, a daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel (Mathias) Stokum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford R. Couchenour in 1995; infant brother, Clarence Jr.; infant sister, Lois; three sisters, Betty DiNardo, Lillian Tocco and Ilene Anderson; and five brothers-in-law, Alvin Klingensmith, George Saint, Joseph DiNardo, Anthony Tocco and Muir Anderson II. Dee was a member of Herminie United Methodist Church and the Madison Golden Agers. Her love for her grandchildren went above and beyond. She also loved spending time with her family, especially looking forward each year to attending the Stokum family reunions. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Couchenour and her husband, Kent Chrisman, of Shippensburg; and her son, Jay Couchenour and Cassie, of Herminie; three special grandchildren, Bryan Maughan, Chelsea and fiance, Dan Slottje, and Christopher Couchenour; three brothers, Thomas (Roxanne) Stokum, of Lexington, N.C., John (Janet) Stokum, of North Huntingdon, and Paul (Judy, who was also Dee's caregiver) Stokum, of Jeannette; two sisters, Genevieve Klingensmith, of Gettysburg, and Charlotte Saint, of Tarrs; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly. She will be sadly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. The family would like to thank Bridges Hospice for their love and compassionate care. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W.
