Donald R. Waryanka Sr., 84, of Irwin, passed away peacefully, Friday, April 23, 2021, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born August 3, 1936, in Jeannette, a son of the late Stephen and Anna (Kopie) Waryanka. In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Donald Davis; six sisters, Anne Matcovic, Nell Hareczmak, Helen Proto, Mary Malozewski, Eva Westmoreland and Kay Magyari; two brothers, Michael and Wesley Waryanka. Don was a dairy farmer his entire life and for 40 years he had worked for the Hempfield School District as a bus driver and the last five as custodian before retiring. Don was a loyal family man. He enjoyed picnics, birthday parties and listening to polkas. He just loved talking with his friends and spending time with his grandchildren on the farm. He made the best buttered popcorn and award-winning angel food cakes. Don is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Viola (Luzar) Waryanka; two sons, Stephen (Elvira) Waryanka, of Irwin, and Donald Waryanka Jr., of New Stanton; three daughters, Donna Waryanka, of New Jersey, Jill (Eugene) Schachte, of Ohio, and Aimee (Stanley) Ciesielski, of Irwin; 12 special grandchildren, Teddy, Chloe, Evie, Hunter, Jackson, Stephen, Stanley, Shane, Paige, Ava, Sydney and Shelby; great-grandson, Logan; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews whom he loved dearly. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to Scott, Melissa and Jim, of Bridges Hospice, for all their love and compassionate care. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A private funeral liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park.
