Donna Jean Wiley, 74, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Herminie, passed away peacefully in her home, Thursday, April 11, 2024, surrounded by family. The oldest of four, Donna was born August 1, 1949 to the late Paul and Lillian (Heaverly) Wiley in McKeesport, PA. She is survived by sisters, Karen Wiley of Virginia Beach,VA, Joan White and her husband Mark, of Conway, SC and brother Ronald Wiley and his late wife Donna Montecuppo of Rillton, PA. She also leaves behind nieces Megan Guevara (José) and their two children Mariam and Raphael of Leesburg, VA; Erin Parker (Will), their two children, Annabelle and Johnny of Myrtle Beach, SC; and Ashley Howard and her husband Michael of Weirton, WV. Donna was a member of the last graduating class of Sewickley High School. She worked as nurse’s aid in the cardiac care unit at Greensburg Hospital while she attended night school at California State College to earn her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She moved to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina where she found her calling as a beloved school teacher for 32 years at Waccamaw Elementary School. Following retirement, Donna found great joy in traveling with her friends, most notably a trip to Ireland. She also enjoyed sewing, spending time outside in her flower garden and cake decorating. She was an active member of Surfside United Methodist Church. Donna loved spending time with her family and friends and was sure to leave anyone she encountered with smiles and laughter. The family extends their sincerest gratitude to the care team from Traditions Hospice, physical and occupational therapists from Fox Rehabilitation, and a special thank you to Laurie from Homewatch Caregivers. Friends will be received Wednesday, April 17, 2024, from 10 a.m. to Noon, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251 at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home, with Pastor Frank Rocco officiating.
