Edward Mikel

Edward  Mikel, 97, of  West Newton, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026 in Excela Health Westmoreland  Hospital, Greensburg , surrounded by his family . He was born July 25, 1928 , in Sewickley Twp.,  son of the late Valentine  and  Vincencija (Benko) Mikel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife , Irene ( Hensberger) Mikel  in 2001;  two brothers, Yernie and Valentine Mikel; and five sisters, Frances Siler, Mary Mikel, Ann Bolk, Jennie Mikel, Rose M. Bussard. 
Prior to his retirement  Ed was the president of Mikel Coal Company and Mikel Trucking Co. Inc. along with being a lifelong farmer. He loved his cowboy hat collection. He was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie and the West Newton Sportsmens Club. He loved spending time with his family,  especially his grandchildren and great - grandchildren. 
Ed is survived by his two daughters; Maryann  (Stanley) Revers  and Rose Mikel both of West Newton;   three  special grandchildren , Stanley ( Jiajing) Revers , Kasimir ( Mary Anne)  Revers, Edward ( Amber) Revers, nine special great -grandchildren; Ava, Lillian, Tulip, Kasimir Jr., Leila, Jasper, Alexander, Samuel, Maci; numerous nieces and nephews, great -nieces, and great -nephews.  
He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors.
Friends will be received from 3  to  7pm , Thursday, Jan.  29, 2026, at the Joseph W.  Nickels Funeral Home Inc. 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA  15637. A  private funeral liturgy will be held at  noon on  Friday  Jan. 30, 2026 , in the funeral home. Private interment  will follow in West Newton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions  may be made to Saint Edward Church , 120 St.  Edward Lane , Herminie , PA 15637, in memory of Ed.
