Elizabeth O. "Betty" (Orsinger) Horwatt

Elizabeth O. "Betty" Horwatt, 79, of Irwin, died Saturday, June 10, 2017, in Select Specialities Hospital, Latrobe. She was born Dec. 24, 1937, in Arona, a daughter of the late Greeno and Alma (Hutter) Orsinger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, William "Buster" and Robert "Bob" Orsinger; and two brothers-in-law, Stanley "Stan" Steban and Adam "Herk" Shuglie. Prior to her retirement, Betty was a supervisor having worked for Greensburg Savings and Loan and also worked for the Hempfield Township Tax office for many years. She was a former member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. Betty loved to crochet afghans and do cross-stitch for her family members. She loved spending time at the local flea markets, enjoyed harness racing and going to the casino. Betty is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles A. "Chuck" Horwatt Sr.; a son, Charles A. "Chuck" (Hedy) Horwatt Jr. of Westmoreland City; a daughter, Debra (Rick) Sherman, of Newport News, Va.; five grandchildren, Charles A. Horwatt III and Haley and Hannah Horwatt, Matthew and Jacob Sherman two sisters, Ann "Toots" Steban, of Herminie, and Nancy Shuglie, of Shanner; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Betty will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. There will be no public visitation per Betty's wishes. JOSEPH W.
