Frances M. (DeGregorio) Sever

Frances M. Sever, 95, of Wendel, passed away peacefully, Thursday, July 1, 2021, at her son's home, surrounded by her family. She was born July 1, 1926, in Greensburg, daughter of the late Tony and Susan (Picon) DeGregorio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James M. Sever Sr.; a brother, Tony DeGregorio; a sister, Michelina Ciochetto; and beloved grandson, Daniel Sever. Fran was never one to let any grass grow under her feet. As a young woman, she loved to go dancing, where she met her late husband. Her two boys were her pride and joy (most of the time). Fran worked as a waitress at Village Inn, Jeannette, into her 70s. She approached retirement with the same spunk that she approached in her younger years. Fran enjoyed her morning breakfast with her sister, Pip, keeping an impeccably clean house, cooking meals for her family and the best days included hours at the casino playing those penny slots. Her days were infinitely made better when she saw one of her four great-grandchildren, whether in person or via iPhone that she learned how to use in her late 80s. She was generous, strong, smart and independent, passing all of these traits to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fran is survived by her two sons, James M. Sever Jr. and Connie Blair, of West Newton; Robert (Jeri) Sever, of West Newton; three special grandchildren, Jeff, Jennifer and Jimmy Sever; four special great-grandchildren, Gianna, Luca, Vico and Olivia; her sister, Josephine Hohman, of Wendel; sister-in-law, Eunice DeGregorio, of Wendel; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly. Fran will be dearly missed by her family and the many friends she made over the years.Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, at JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251.
