Frank V. “Buttons” Kolesha, 90, of Herminie , passed away at his home on Friday, Nov. 28, 2025. He was born Feb. 8, 1935, in Herminie, son of the late Frank A. and Jennie (Hutter) Kolesha. In addition to his parents, he is proceeded in death by his beloved wife , Janice J. (Kusmierek) Kolesha, two sisters, Wendy Williams and Kathleen “Kay” Hoadwonic; brother , Bob Kolesha. Prior to his retirement, Frank was a plant layout engineer, having worked at Westinghouse Electric in East Pittsburgh and Ft. Payne, AL. for 40 years. He was a member of Saint Edward Church in Herminie, and he loved going to lunch at Rodneys on Thursday afternoons with his church family.
He loved living in Leesburg, FL for 18 years, and his favorite spot was Destin, soaking up the sun. Frank was an avid golfer. He started his day reading the newspaper, then doing the crossword puzzles. He had a heart of gold and a special smile to let you know everything was ok. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and neighbors near and far.
Frank is survived by his son, Frank M. (Diane) Kolesha, of North Huntingdon; daughter, Terri (John) Feltes, of Herminie, with whom he resided; three special grandsons, Frank (Alexa) Kolesha, Christian (Courtney) Kolesha , and Adam Friez ( Mark Hubbard); special great - grandson, Maverick Kolesha; sister-in-law Suzanne Kolesha, of VA; brother- in-law, Robert (Lou Ann) Kusmierek of Belle Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Frank is also survived by his dear friend, Alice O’Toole of Bethel Park.
A private memorial service will take place on Friday, December 5, 2025 from 10 AM to 11 AM in the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251, at which time a funeral liturgy will be held in the funeral home.
