Geno Miller Obituary

Geno G. Miller Jr., 83, of Greensburg, formerly of West Newton, passed away Thursday, June, 24, 2021, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Dec. 1, 1937, in Greensburg, a son of the late Geno G. Sr. and Kathryn (Naponic) Miller. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by infant son, Michael. Geno served honorably in the Army for four years, including two years in Germany. Prior to his retirement, Geno worked for more than 25 years in the Yough School District where he served as the high school principal, the junior high school principal, the head teacher at the West Newton Junior High, and as a history teacher at Yukon Junior High. He received his bachelor's degree in secondary education from California University of Pennsylvania and his master's degree from Duquesne University. He was a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association and St. Bruno Church in Greensburg. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved traveling the world with his family, enjoying special trips over the past years. He enjoyed golf and was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. He also loved gardening. Geno is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Phyllis (Eichler) Miller; two daughters, Jenn Miller, of Youngwood, and Gabrielle (Seamus) McGrath, of Connecticut; three special grandchildren, Seamus Geno, Ciara May and Tara Marie; a brother, Jon Dean (Terri) Miller, of Jeannette; and a sister, Penny (Al) Clemens, of Greensburg. He is also survived by his honorary daughter, Lynnette Kinter, of Youngwood; three nieces, Patti Bearley, Katie Gee and Julie Miller; a nephew, Terry Clemens; his beloved pets, Rosie, Gracie and Sammy and, not to forget, his grand-dogs, Juliet and Drake. Geno will be dearly missed by his family, friends, colleagues and students near and far. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. Additional visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by a funeral Mass at noon in St. Bruno Church, Greensburg.
