Gerald J. Francis, 75, of West Newton, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2017, in Canonsburg Hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1941 in Colver, PA, a son of the late Norman Francis and Alice (Reighard) Francis-Cramer and late step-father, Grant Cramer. Prior to his retirement he was owner/operator of Gerald Francis Heating and Plumbing in West Newton for over 35 years. Gerald was a member of the Hilltop United Methodist Church in Madison. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and most of all tractor pulls from Bowling Green, OH to Louisville, KY, to Indiana Super Pull and back home to the Sewickley Grange. He also loved riding horses and taking care of them; his favorite being Tumbleweed. Gerald is survived by his two sons, Donald J. "Stretch" (Patti) Francis of West Newton and Dale M. (Gretchen) Francis of Collinsburg; a grandson, D.J. Francis; nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at the Greenery Center for Rehab and Nursing in Canonsburg for all their love and compassionate care over the past 10 years, There will be no public visitation.
