Jack D. Fabean

Jack D. Fabean, 82, of Smithton, passed away peacefully Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at his home. He was born Dec. 28, 1934, in Smithton, son of the late Greeno and Lena (Regotti) Fabean. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jimmy Foster; three brothers, Vincent, Edward and Wilson (Butch) Fabean; and four sisters, Georgina Fabean, June Dongilli, Lillian Hodge and Marge Overand. After he retired from being in business for more than 57 years, Jack continued to help his daughter, who took over the store, Jack's Supermarket located in Smithton, in 2010. He was awarded Smithton Area Lions Club Man of the Year in 1984 and was a member of Seven Dolors Church in Yukon.  He loved playing cards on Saturday nights, enjoyed fishing trips and loved going to the Meadows.   Jack is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Marlene (Bosetti) Fabean; son, Jack (Sherrie) Fabean, of West Newton; daughter, Mona Lee (John) Shaffer, of Smithton; four grandchildren, Jonathan (Megan) Shaffer, Justin (Chassidy) Shaffer, Jared Shaffer and Stefanie (Jason) Glass; two great-granddaughters, Skyler and Mackenzie Foster; a brother-in-law, Wayne Overand; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jack's love for his family and customers will remain forever in our hearts. He will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and all his customers and suppliers during the past 57 years. Additional visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning with a Mass of Christian burial at noon in Seven Dolors Church in Yukon.
