Janice E. "Jan" Sames

Janice E. "Jan" Sames, 79, of Herminie, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2018, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. She was born May 3, 1939, in Sewickley Township, daughter of the late Harry J. Sr. and Adelle (Fullerton) Sames. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her companion, Thomas C. "Tom" Babiak; a brother, William Piovesan; two sisters, Mae (Leonard) Tucci and Betty (Howard) Dyer; a brother-in-law, James Roycroft; and a niece, Audra Dudek. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Bell Telephone for more than 38 years. Jan was an active member of Circleville United Methodist Church and was also a member with the Herminie VFW post 8427 Ladies Auxiliary, where she was president for many, many years. She enjoyed traveling, but most of all she loved spending time with her family. Jan is survived by her two sisters, L. Henrietta (Aunt Henn) Solomon and her husband, Steve, of Irwin, and Jessie (Aunt Buzz) Roycroft, of North Huntingdon; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews, whom she loved dearly. Jan was a very special lady and will be dearly missed by her family friends and neighbors near and far. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. Additional visitation will be held 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Circleville United Methodist Church, 11600 Parkway Drive, Irwin, PA 15642, at which time a funeral service will be held. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO CHURCH. Interment will follow in Penn Lincoln Memorial Park, North Huntingdon. The Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
