Joann G. (Pavsek) Stepinsky

Joann G. (Pavsek) Stepinsky, 97, of Herminie No. 2, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in Golden Heights Personal Care Home, Irwin. She was born April 13, 1920, in Herminie No. 2, a daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Trebusek) Pavsek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Stepinsky Sr.; daughter, Janice Stepinsky; and three brothers, Frank, Steve and Louis Pavsek. Joann was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie and the Sunshine Club. She was also a member of the Herminie Senior Citizen Center and was recently honored as an 80 year member of the SNPJ Lodge No. 87. She was very proud of her Slovenian Heritage. She loved to plant flowers, vegetable gardens and enjoyed listening to polka music. Joann is survived by her two sons, John (Nancy) Stepinsky Jr., of Irwin, and Ronald (Ginny) Stepinsky, of West Newton; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, George Pavsek, of Arziona; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Joann will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral liturgy will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
