John J. Gabonay, 54, of North Huntingdon, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at his home. He was born Dec. 16, 1967, in Jeannette, son of Donna (Galante) Gabonay and the late Joseph T. Gabonay. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, David Gabonay. John was a graduate of Greensburg Central Catholic High School and obtained his Bachelors Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. He was currently employed at FedEx as a driver, based out of Hunker. John was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church in Herminie. He loved the outdoors especially cutting his grass. He loved his car and enjoyed keeping it shined up. He was a Pittsburgh Panther and Steeler fan. In addition to his mother, John is survived by his two children, Rachel Grimes of Swissvale and James Gabonay of Texas; brother, Mark (Joanne) Gabonay of Cranberry; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He is also survived by his favorite roommate “KEKE” his beloved cat. John will be dearly missed by his family, many friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 11a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Friday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. at which time a funeral liturgy will be held in the funeral home.
