John W. Guttman, 89, of Irwin, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2023, in RNC Greensburg, with his family by his side. He was born in Northampton, Pa., a son of the late Joseph and Anna (Gratzel) Guttman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra (Meyers) Guttman, and son-in-law, Greg Moose. Prior to his retirement, he was a truck driver, having worked for Super Valu, in New Stanton, and also worked for Helms Express, in North Huntingdon for 25 years prior. He was a member of the Teamsters Local No. 30. John was a member of St. Edward Roman Catholic Church, in Herminie, Sunshine Club and funeral choir. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing softball. He also helped at the food bank at the church and enjoyed volunteering at the Second Chance Horse Rescue in Greensburg. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. John is survived by his three daughters, Dr. Linda A. Guttman and her husband, Tom Cooney, of New Hampshire, Sharon Moose, of Greensburg, Sue Whritenour, of New Jersey; a son, Brian (Wendy Mann) Guttman, of Virginia; seven grandchildren, Liam Cooney, Brittany Moose, Ryan Moose, Liz and Jake Guttman and Julia and Dan Whritenour; four special great-grandchildren, Aerianna Palmer, Kacey Moose, Grace and Jimmy Edwards; a brother, Joseph (Norma) Guttman, of Florida; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. John will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2023, in St. Edward Church, 120 St. Edward Lane, Herminie, PA 15637, with Father David J. Nazimek, as celebrant. Please go directly to church. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Jeannette. JOSEPH W.
