John Eugene Miliczki

John E. Miliczki, 90, of Ruffsdale, passed away Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born June 21, 1926, in Lowber, a son of the late John and Anna (Szucs) Miliczki. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth "Libby" (Chromek) Miliczki; brother, August "Al" Milicki; and infant brother, Ernest Miliczki. John was a graduate of Sewickley Township High School and Penn State McKeesport, where he received an Associate of Electrical Maintenance. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the 9TH Army Air Corps' occupying forces in Germany, and obtained the rank of sergeant. John retired from U.S. Steel after 35 years of service as an electrical maintenance foreman in Steelworks Electric. He loved to travel with his wife, Libby. They had traveled through all of the lower 48 states, plus Hawaii, Mexico, Canada and the Bahamas. John also loved to fish, garden and to do little projects around the house. He always was there to help family and friends with their projects. In his younger years, John and Libby spent many nights at the Slovenian Hall in Herminie polka dancing. He was a member of Holy Family Church in West Newton. John also loved watching the Steelers, Pirates and Pitt football, and often had difficulty leaving a broadcast until the very end. He is survived by his daughter, Jeanne (Tom) Puskaric, of Greensburg; son, Ed (Kim) Miliczki, of Greensburg; and daughter, Debra (Joe) Weimer, of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Evelyn Milicki, of Irwin; five grandchildren, Scott Puskaric, Toni (Bill) Bigelow, Michaelene (Jason) Rose, Jonathan Weimer and John Edward Miliczki; four great-grandchildren, Alex, Nick, Caitlin and Trent; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. John was particularly happy when surrounded by his family. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the JOSEPH W, NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-309-5704. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Holy Family Church in West Newton. Interment with full military honors will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township.
