John Minoski

August 23, 1922 ~ August 25, 2016 (age 94) 94 Years Old


John Minoski, 94, of Yukon, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016, in Nature Park Commons, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 23, 1922, in Yukon, son of the late Mike and Edith C. (Cicci) Minoski. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Edward and Joseph Minoski. John was an Army veteran, having served during World War II. Prior to his retirement, John was a clerk, having worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Yukon for 38 years. After retiring, he was the proud owner of John's Dariette, also in Yukon. He enjoyed gardening and especially his flower garden. In his spare time, he loved to paint landscapes with oils. He was a past member of United Church of Christ in Yukon, where he served as treasurer and sang in the choir with his beautiful tenor voice. John is survived by his two sisters, Lucille (Blaise) Forish, of Latrobe, and Donnna Lengel, of Ruffsdale; four brothers, James (Dee) Minoski, of West Newton, Mike (Mitzi) Minoski, of Pittsburgh, Donald Minoski, of Greensburg, and William (Lotus) Minoski, of Ruffsdale; numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to thank Ridgeview Residential Care, Nature Park Commons and Via Quest Hospice for all their love and compassionate care over the past five years. John will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Andrew Yaremko officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
