John M. Montecupo, 88, of Greensburg, formerly of Herminie, passed away Monday, Sept. 5, 2022, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Oct. 18, 1933, in Herminie, a son of the late Michael and Anne (Colaprete) Montecupo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary M. (McDonough) Montecupo, in 2019; four brothers, Anthony, Joseph, Loretto "Louis" and James Montecupo; and two sisters, Susan Chuway and Margaret Montecupo. John was a graduate of Sewickley Township High School. He was an Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement, he was a plant manager for Paper Craft in Pittsburgh for more than 40 years. He had also worked for Allied Vending in Greensburg repairing machines. John was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Greensburg, where he was an usher for over 40 years. He enjoyed flying solo out of Latrobe Airport, flying over his homestead for many years. John is survived by his special niece, Deborah Minoski, of North Huntingdon; and two nephews, Bobby and Jerry Montecupo, of Pitcarin; and several great-nieces and great-nephews who loved him dearly. A special thank-you to the staff at Transitions Healthcare in Irwin for all their love and compassionate care given to John over the past four months. Private services will be held Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724- 446-7251. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 1001 Mt. Pleasant Road, Greensburg, PA 15601, in memory of John.
