Joyce A. (Knepshield) Phillips

Joyce A. Phillips, 83, of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., formerly of Herminie, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born May 17, 1939, in Apollo, daughter of the late John and Anna (Klingensmith) Knepshield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers, Jack, William, Robert, David and Richard Knepshield. Joyce was a beautician and was co-owner of J&J Beauty Shop located in Herminie for many years. She then went on to become a nurse’s aide. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. She also enjoyed bowling, boating and she loved her flowers. She loved spending time with her family and always said" family first." Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Donald E. Phillips; sons, Donald (Wendy) Phillips, of Harrison City, Timothy (Robin) Phillips, of Hecla, Thomas (Connie) Phillips, of Herminie; two daughters, Carol (Fred) Medved, of Madison and Debra (Jerry) Steiner, of Maine; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Gary (Sharon) Knepshield, of New York, Jim (Pam) Knepshield, of Colorado, and Dan (Darlene) Knepshield, of New York; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Joyce will be dearly missed by her family, friend and neighbors near and far. The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for all their love and compassionate care. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME, 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 6, 2023, at which time a funeral service will be held in the funeral home at noon.
