June P. “Sis” Feltes, 82, of Herminie No.2, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 24. 2025 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Sept. 5, 1942, in Herminie, daughter of the late Edward and June I. (Feltes) Prejza. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, George E. "DoDo" Feltes; son, Edward “Eddie” Feltes; brother, John E. Prejza.
Prior to her retirement, Sis was a custodian, having worked for the Hempfield School District for more than 35 years, starting out in the cafeteria. She was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. Sis loved to read and enjoyed riding her motorcycle in her younger years. Yellow was her favorite color, and she loved yellow roses. Spending time with her family and grandchildren was always first on her list.
Sis is survived her daughter, Virna Wood, of Herminie No 2; and step-daughter, Deborra Feltes, of Greensburg; two step-sons, George C. (Joyce) Feltes, of Greensburg, and Andrew J. (Dianna) Feltes of North Carolina; seven special grandchildren, George, Brad, Bryan, Brent, Krystal, Drew and Grayson; five special great-grandchildren, Aubreigh, Kristjan, Ryder, Logan and Sabastian; special sister-in-law, Betty Prejza of Rillton and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Sis is also survived by her sweet companion, Angel who was always by her side. . Sis will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to thank Excela Health Hospice, for all their love and compassionate care.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Edward Church, Herminie, with the Rev. David J. Nazimek as celebrant.
