Lillian Kardos, 98, of West Newton, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, in Ridgeview Residential Care, Youngwood. She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Ellsworth, daughter of the late Michael and Tillie (Stublsky) Waselesky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen Kardos; two brothers, James and Andrew Sleowsky; and two sisters, Elizabeth Egelsky and Agnes Vucinich. Prior to her retirement in 1984 she was employed with the Westmoreland Manor as a nurse's aide. She took pride in her flowers and especially her home. Lillian is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews who loved her dearly. The family would like to thank the girls at Ridgeview for all their love and care over the past three years. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home with Pastor Robert Ross officiating.
