Lois J. (Ray) Smith

Lois J. Smith, 88, of Irwin, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2021, at her home. She was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Sewickley Township, daughter of the late William and Helen (DerMotta) Ray. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elton J. Smith, in 2018; two daughters-in-law, Tamara Smith and Debra Smith; a sister, Shirley Boyd; and a brother, Robert Ray. Lois loved her family, especially her grandchildren, attending all their activities. She enjoyed cooking and loved to share her recipes with her family and friends, making sure everyone was sent home with leftovers. She was a member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Irwin. Lois is survived by her two sons, Gary Smith, of Irwin, and Dennis Smith, of Maryland; six special grandchildren, Nolin, Nigil, Malaya, Rainah, Anne and Tiffany, whom she loved dearly; sister-in-law, Elva Ray, of Ohio; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, 724-446-7251, at which time funeral services will be held.
