Loretta E. Foster, 84, of Lowber, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 3, 2024, in Transitions Health Care, Irwin. She was born Jan. 26, 1940 in Wyano, daughter of the late Martin and Eva (Zowada) Mlinek. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Foster Sr. In 2021; daughter-in-law, JoAnn Foster; two brothers, Ronald and Edward Mlinek; three sisters, Dorothy Mlinek (infant), Joanne Waller and Florence Rhodes. Loretta had a passion for her daily soap operas, growing beautiful flowers and of course the Steelers. She loved traveling as "snowbirds" to Florida with her husband each winter and she never missed a game or an event that the grandchildren participated in. She loved her family with all her heart. Loretta is survived by her two sons, George A. Foster Jr., of Florida, and Scott (Linda) Foster, of Herminie; five special grandchildren, Lacey Foster (Jarrad), Zachary Foster, Karissa (Jack) Kocerka, Sarah Pytlak (Chris) and Ryan (Erika) Belmore; two special great-grandchildren, Hannah and Luke; two brothers, John Mlinek of Wyano and Robert (Chris) Mlinek Sr. of Mendon; brother-in-law, Vaughn Rhodes of Ruffsdale; two sisters, Frances Riddle of Greensburg and Caroline Daum (John Kolence) of Ft. Myers and sister-in-law, Janice Mlinek of Yukon; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends near and far. A special thank-you to the staff and her “personal crew” at Transitions that gave her such special care, treating her like family. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
