Louis J. "Lou" Costanza, 85, of Herminie, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021, in Waldens View, of North Huntingdon, surrounded by his family. He was born June 11, 1936, in Herminie, son of the late Domenico and Nora (Smith) Costanza. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Joseph (Joey) Costanza; sister, Mary Castine; and a brother, John Costanza. Prior to his retirement, Lou was owner/operator of Elephant Septic Service and Maple Leaf Construction for more than 60 years. He was a hard worker his entire life, supporting his family. He enjoyed making sausage and homemade wine for his family and friends. He was the life of the party and loved telling jokes. He was one-of-a kind and made friends everywhere he went. He was caring and always giving. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Barbara (Black) Costanza; his two sons, Dominico (Mary) Costanza, of Chambersburg, and Tony (Tina) Costanza, of Herminie; two daughters, Cynthia Miller, of Maryland, and Barbara (Guy) Mashione, of Monroeville; eight special grandchildren, Ranae, Domenico, Nicole, Jacob, Jennifer, Krista, Amanda and Rebecca; four special great-grandchildren, Austin, Raelyn, Zaiden and Arellia; four sisters, Olive Turnbull, of Michigan, Ann Price, of Pitcairn, Kathleen Elliot, of Irwin, and Michaeleen Peoples, of Grapeville; three sisters-in-law, Mary Emerson, of Colorado, Dorothy Waite and Kathleen Burrons, both of Meadville, and brother-in-law, James (Linda) Black, of Oil City; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Lou will be sadly missed by his family and many friends near and far. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A private funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
