Louis R. Detar, 75, of Rillton, passed away Tuesday , Nov. 7, 2023, in Excela Heath Westmoreland Hospital. He was born Nov. 26, 1947, in Greensburg, a son of the late Charles and Angeline (Spinogatti) Detar Sr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Charles (Karen) Detar and Peter Detar; nephew, Anthony; and niece, Deanna. Prior to his retirement, he was a mechanic, having worked for Myers's Coach Line in Export. He was member of St. Edward Church in Herminie and a social member of the Rilllton VFW Post 8518. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but most of all on his tractor, mowing his lawn. Lou is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Marian E. (Rothwell) Detar; two daughters, Tina (Michael) Hensel, of Rillton, and Christine (Mark) Guerriero, of Gibsonia; five grandchildren, Ashlynn, Paige, Brittany, Zachary and Amy; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Curt (Paula) Detar, of Greensburg, Anthony (Kathy) Detar, of Rillton; five sisters, Phyllis (Dean) Rush, of Maryland, June (Paul) Harenski, of California, Roseanne Brown, of Michigan, Angeline (Harry) Sack, of California, and Sharon (Jim) Vandesteeg, of Hermitage; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lou will be dearly missed by his family friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, in the funeral home.
