Mary Ann (Kustra) Karr

Mary Ann Karr, 83, of  Evanstown, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, surrounded by her family. She was born May 15, 1941, in Herminie, daughter of the late John and Catherine (Podufaly) Kustra. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband , George Karr (1968); four brothers, Harry, Alex, John and Peter Kustra; two sisters, Mary and Anna Kustra ; sister-in-law, Irene Kustra and brother-in-law, Albert Lojas. 

Mary Ann was the heart of the family, she was the matriarch. Spending most of her time taking care of her grandson , Greg. She loved unconditionally and was very outspoken, but you always would take it to heart. She was always a shoulder to cry on and if you  were hungry, her house was the place to go. Her family was her life and she loved taking care of each and every one of them.  

 Mary Ann is survived by her daughter,  Kathleen  M. Hastings and Ron of  
Irwin ; two sons, Frank  (Sandy ) Karr of West Newton and Bill  ( Cindy Lou) Karr of Herminie; seven special grandchildren, Gregory Karr, James (Richele ) Hastings, Nicole (Angel) Lorenzo, David DePaulo, Ryan Poth, Zach ( Allison) Poth, Collin (Tania) Poth;  two special, great grandchildren, Skylar, Hastings and Cali Lorenzo; two brothers, Michael Kustra of Irwin and Nicholas (Joanne ) Kustra of Greensburg; two sisters, Annie Lojas  of Irwin and Helen Kustra of Herminie and sister-in-law, Ruth  Kustra of Madison; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces, and great nephews.  Mary Ann  will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.

Friends will be received  from 3 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025 , at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday May 16, 2025,  in the funeral home. Interment  will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Hempfield Township.
