Mary Ann “MAK” Kavel

Mary Ann "MAK" Kavel, 60, of Herminie, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born Feb. 19, 1962, in Jeannette, daughter of the late Stanley and Rosemary M. (Campfield) Kavel Sr. Prior to her retirement, she was a buyer for SuperValu Inc. in New Stanton for more than 20 years. Mary Ann was a huge Penn State fan and enjoyed going to all the football games. She loved to go skiing with her nieces and nephews. Most of all she, enjoyed spending time with her family at all the Kavel gatherings. She was a member of St. Edward Church, in Herminie. Mary Ann is survived by her two brothers, Stanley C. (Sherie) Kavel Jr. and William "Bill" (Dawna) Kavel, both of Irwin; three sisters, Teresa (Mark) Woods, of Rostraver Township , Rosemary Cipollone, of Pittsburgh and Katherine (Tom) Ripka, of Bellefonte; special nieces and nephews, John, Joe, Sam, Katelyn (Mickey), Matt, Abby, Billy (Danielle), Godson David, Joshua, Emily, Julia, Mary Kate, Gabe, Olivia (Kevin), Andrew and Miranda (Jermey); special great-nieces and great-nephew, Harper, Grayson and Elijah, whom she loved dearly and forever will be their aunt "MAK." She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, kind heart and her passion for Penn State football. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251.
