Melveen R. "Kelly" McDonough, 72, of Hempfield Township, formerly of Herminie, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born Oct. 23, 1943, in New Kensington, daughter of Robert (Sarah) Calahan, of Elizabeth Township, and the late Helene (Holeva) Calahan. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Kyler Kettren; and her sister, Ailyne Olszewski. Prior to her retirement Kelly was proud and loved working for Monsour Hospital as a licensed practical nurse for more than 20 years. Spending time with her family and especially her grandsons always came first. Kelly is survived by her husband of 27 years, Thomas H. McDonough; her son, Christopher (Jessica) Kettren, of Latrobe; two special grandsons, Gaige and Gavin Kettren; and three nephews. The family would like to thank "Cathy" with Heartland Hospice for all her love and care. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251, at which time a memorial service will be held in the funeral home to celebrate Kelly's life.
