Michael F. Grec

Michael F. "Mike" Grec, 69, of Rillton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 28, 2021, in Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. He was born Aug. 14, 1951, in Hutchinson, a son of the late John and Catherine (Yannacci) Grec. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, JoAnn Shuster and Catherine Ash; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Grec. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Sewickley High School. He was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. He was a lifelong learner, attending multiple schools culminating in a bachelor's degree in business administration from American InterContinental University in 2014. He was a social member of the Herminie VFW Post 8427 and was a member of the Blyth Lodge No. 593 in West Newton. Mike was an Army veteran, serving in the National Guard. He worked at Shuster's throughout his life for more than 20 cumulative years and as his most recent employment for the past few years. He was "Pap" to his beloved grandchildren and loved spending time with them. Mike is survived by the love of his life, Barbara (Olson) Grec; three sons, Daniel Grec, of Rillton, Douglas Wilson, of Rillton, and Jason (Sadie) Wilson, of Virginia; his daughter, Rachel Wilson, of Rillton; two special grandchildren, Mackenzi Wilson and Marissa Kelley; two brothers, John Grec, of Hutchinson, and Gary Grec, of Herminie; and brother-in-law, Joe (Barb) Shuster, of Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mike will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Please go directly to the church. Interment with full military honors will follow in Westmoreland County Memorial Park. Please be prepared to adhere to all the CDC guidelines, including face masks and social distancing in the funeral home and in church.
