Patrick R. Mellinger

Patrick R. Mellinger, 67, of Herminie, passed away Thursday, May 2, 2024 in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg with his family by his side. He was born March 17, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Robert and Ruth (Jones) Mellinger. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Ronald “Butch” Mellinger; and four brothers, Curtis, Terry, Ronald “Weasel” and Warren Mellinger. Prior to his retirement, Pat was the custodian for the Yough School District for 38 years with H.W. Good Elementary, his final stop. He was a social member of the Herminie VFWPost 8427. He enjoyed going to his camp to go hunting, fishing and was the master at “CAMP BREAKFAST” he sure was an excellent cook and baker. Pat was an avid Steeler’s fan, always having his flags out for all the games.He could always be found on his porch, listening to oldies sharing a smile and wave. He love spending time with his grandchildren, making pot pies and attending all their activities. Pat is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Susanne R. (Bolam) Mellinger; his son, Patrick J. "P.J." of Herminie; daughter, Jamie (Albert Jr.) VanDivner of Belle Vernon; four special grandchildren, Lauren and Albert VanDivner III, Kaitlyn and Carly Mellinger; sister-in -law, Pam Mellinger of VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pat will be dearly missed by his family,  friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, May 6, 2024 at the JOSEPH W.
