Peter W. Detar

Peter W. Detar, 76, of Rillton, passed away Friday, Oct. 20, 2017, at his home. He was born Nov. 6, 1940, in Greensburg, son of the late Charles and Angeline (Spinogatti) Detar. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Charles; wife, Karen Detar; and nephew, Anthony Detar. Prior to his retirement, Pete was a janitor, having worked for Vangura in North Huntingdon, and was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. Pete was a bartender for more than 30 years at the Rillton VFW Post 8518, and made many friends there over the years. He is survived by his three brothers, Curt (Paula) Detar, of Greensburg, Louis (Marian) Detar, of Rillton, and Anthony Detar and fiancee, Kathy, of Rillton; five sisters, Phyllis (Dean) Rush, of Maryland, June (Paul) Harenski, of California, Roseanne (Robert) Brown, of Michigan, Angeline (Harry) Sacks, of California, and Sharon (Jim) Vandesteeg, of Hermitage; numerous nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.  Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, in St. Edward Church, Herminie.
