Peter J. Steiner

Peter J. Steiner, 85, of Herminie, passed away Friday, June 2, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Homestead, son of the late Jesse and Mildred (Richards) Steiner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edith June "Edie" (Hollis) Steiner; daughter, Beth Ann Steiner; son, Wyatt D. Steiner; daughter-in-law, Shelley Steiner; and brother, Ken Steiner. Pete was an Army veteran. Prior to his retirement, he was a motor inspector, having worked at U.S. Steel Homestead Works for more than 30 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He was considered the protector of the family and always had an open door.  Pete is survived by his daughter, Shannon (Tom Wertz) Pasternak, of West Newton; three special grandsons, Seth (Nadine) Pasternak, Jesse (Hannah Kramer) Pasternak and Jake (Danielle) Pasternak; and four special great-grandchildren, Peter, Eli, Lorelei and Audrey; four brothers, Terry (Debbie) Steiner, of West Mifflin, Jerry (Ann) Steiner, of West Mifflin, Pat (Mary) Steiner, of Elizabeth, and Larry (Joe) Steiner, of Arona; a sister, Joyce (Tom) Kushner, of West Mifflin; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and dear neighbors. The family would like to thank his caregiver, Susan Theys, for all her love and compassionate care. A special thank-you to the neighbors, Nan, Jody and Dawn, along with the Comini family for always being there for Pete. Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Randy Sweet officiating.
