Rogers E. Russell

Rogers E. Russell, 81, of Herminie, passed away Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, in Westmoreland Manor, Greensburg. He was born Aug. 18, 1935, in Greensburg, a son of the late Roger L. and Mary Jane (Hall) Russell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters. Rogers was a Marine Corps veteran. Prior to his retirement, he was a welder, having worked for US Steel American Bridge in Gary, Ind. After his retirement, he was a security guard for the Department of Welfare in Greensburg and the First National Bank (Stone House) in Irwin. He was a past member of the East Suburban SDA Church in North Versailles and a present member of the Greensburg SDA Church. Rogers enjoyed fishing, but most of all, serving God. He could alway be found helping out at his church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Louise (Grant) Russell; two sons, Roger E. Russell, of Greensburg, and Christopher Russell; four daughters, Betina (James) Bowman, of Rillton, Gina Russell, April Russell, and Charlena Russell; two grandsons, Siontay Lewis and Nicholas Mendoza; two sisters, Carol Russell and Zetta Russell, both of Pittsburgh; a special uncle, Willie Hall, of Jeannette; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Rogers will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors. Private interment with full military honors will be held at Brush Creek Cemetery in Irwin, per Rogers' wishes. JOSEPH W.
