Sandy Mireles-Dull Obituary

Sandy L. Mireles-Dull, 68, of Herminie, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 6, 1952, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late William and Marie (Beiter) Smetak. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by her infant grandson, Christian David Yemc; sister, Mildred K. Smetak; and her dogs, Bella and Otto. Sandy is survived by her loving husband, William “Bill” Dull; her children, Raymond (Heather) Mireles, of Herminie, Shannon (Rodney) Yemc, of Irwin, Billy (Christen) Dull, of Hutchinson, and Andrew (Christine) Dull, of Rillton; four special grandchildren, Jennifer (Dan) Brummett, Alexandra Mireles, Raven Ustazewski and Ashton Yemc; three special great-grandchildren, Danika, Ronan and Everly Brummett; and sister-in-law, Debby Dull, of Greensburg. She is also survived by her two loyal dogs, Benson and Sydney. Sandy was owner/operator of Sandy's Barber Shop, located in Herminie for the past 35 years, where her love for her community started. She also was the hairdresser at Nickels Funeral Home for more than 30 years. Sandy was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie and was a president of the Sewickley Township Business and Civic Association, a recently elected Yough School Board member, proud to be part of the Westmoreland Federation of Republican Woman's Committee, co-founder of Beloved Youth of Our Community and member of the Ladies Auxiliary Post 8427 in Herminie and bowling league. She was also a past member of Sewickley Township Crime Watch, Yough Youth Commission, Board of Director Oak Hollow Y.M.C.A. and the Sewickley Township Recreation Board. If Herminie would have had a mayor, it would of been Sandy. She enjoyed life to its fullest and she was a hard worker, always putting her customers first. "Maw" was always there for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren's events. She was their biggest fan. She absolutely loved collecting Roosters and Longaberger Baskets. Her family meant the world to her and she had more friends than one could ever have. She had that personality that would light up any room and everyone knew her across the county. She loved playing Mrs. Claus for the Yough elementary schools and Light-up-Night in town. Sandy's love for her family and her passion for her community will forever be remembered. Sandy was one of a kind. She will be dearly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. The family is extremely grateful for the outpouring of prayers and support while Sandy was fighting covid-19 for the past month. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Excela Health Westmoreland for the undivided care, love and support given to Maw. Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Please go directly to church.
