Thomas A. Lapsley

Thomas A. Lapsley, 69, of Calabash, N.C., formerly of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born Aug. 9, 1947, in McKeesport, a son of the late Roy and Ruth ( Beeler) Lapsley. Tom was retired from Basic Carbide, formerly employed by Vista Metals, and was currently employed by the Pearl Golf Course in North Carolina. He was a member of the Herminie No. 2 Game Association, Italian Miner's Society, Herminie Wendel Athletic Association, The Elks in Little River, Sons of the American Legion Post 503, Free Mason Duquesne McKeesport Lodge 731, Tall Cedars Al-O-Mon Forest 138, ASM International, member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Shallote, and former member of Lutheran Church of Our Savior. Tom was an avid gardener who enjoyed making his own wine, which earned him several medals from the American Wine Society and Silver Coast Winery. He enjoyed golfing and relaxing on the beach with his wife. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Virgina (Csokuly) Lapsley; his two children, Christine (Bob) Miller and Thomas (Holly) Lapsley II, both of Herminie; five grandchildren, Samantha Miller, Shane Miller, Kendra Miller, Cara (Miller) Shrubb and Troy Lapsley; five great-grandchildren, Austin, Aubriana, Aydin, Kristin and Trenton; his sisters, Barbara (Ed) Orosz, of White Oak, and Ruth (Jim) Sabo, of McKeesport; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews. Tom will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbors near and far. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W.
