Troy D. Whetzel

Troy D. Whetzel, 63, of Herminie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at his parents' home surrounded by his family. He was born on Oct. 11, 1962. in Greensburg, son of Robert and Helen ( Theibert)
Leighty Jr. of Ligonier. 
Troy was a graduate of Yough  High School class of 1980. He was a factory worker. having worked for Jeannette Glass for many vears.
He was a devoted Pirates fan.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and going to bingo with his buddies. He could play a fine harmonica and loved playing music with his friends. If you  went to his house, you could see all of his memorabilia he collected over the years, which was like going back in time. He was the original founder of the D.G.C. Club and loved gaming and betting. 
Troy is survived by his daughters, Lindsey Whetzel of Herminie, and Sarah and Julia of NY; two sons, Addison (Kristi) De Francisis of Pittsburgh and Jules (fiance, Reena) Whetzel of Westmoreland County ; three special grand-daughters, Aubrey Sager, Aurora Whetzel, and Aribella Whetzel; a brother Kit (Chris) Whetzel of Nevada: numerous nieces and nephews: and great-nieces: and great-nephews. Troy will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A special thank you to Independence Hospice for their love and compassionate care. There will be no public visitation per Troy's wishes.
