Vallie E. (Dunlap) Golobish

Vallie E. Golobish, 75, of Irwin, passed away peacefully, on Monday, May 25, 2026 , in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her family.  She was born  May 10, 1951 in Indiana,PA, daughter of the late Malcolm and Gwenlynn (Hutchinson) Dunlap Jr.  In addition to her parents, she is proceeded in death by a brother,  Vance Dunlap  and her beloved cat, Kosmo.
Prior to her illness, Vallie worked at Giant Eagle in Greensburg, as a cashier and in the video department  for many years. She had a special love for reading and enjoyed bingo with her friends at RNC. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandson. 
Vallie  is survived by her loving husband and caregiver over the past 16 years, John P. Golobish; daughter, Robyn ( Luke) Platt of Blairsville ; step-son, John P. Golobish Jr. of FL and, step-daughter , Jennifer (Alan) Steele of Rector; five special grandchildren, Laken ( Brian) Shipp, Lucas and Logan Platt, Elysia and Carissa Steele; great- grandson, Macon Shipp; sister-in-law, Barb Dunlap of NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great -nephews.  She is also survived by her dog , Layla who loved to visit her at the nursing home , and her precious cat , Bobkatt. She will be dearly missed by her family, neighbors, and many friends at RNC. Her lover for cats will forever be remembered,  having them since she was a little girl. 
A special thank you to the staff at RNC for their love and compassionate care given to Vallie over the past nine years. 
There will be no public visitation per Vallie’s wishes. A private inurnment will take place at Westmoreland County Memorial Park , Hempfield  Township.  JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Herminie, 724-446-7251. In charge of arrangements.
