Veronica M. Carvallis, 80, of West Newton, died peacefully Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016, in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, surrounded by her family. She was born Feb. 4, 1936, in Republic, daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Fazekas) Tressa. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved son, Melvin Keith Carvallis in 1974; a brother, Frank Tressa; and a sister, Karen Schubert. Veronica was a member of St. Edward Church in Herminie. She enjoyed cooking and especially going to the casino, but most of all spending time with her family always came first. Veronica is survived by her loving husband, Melvin P. Carvallis, on which this Saturday they would of celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her daughter with whom she resided, Michelle (William) Oldham, of West Newton; two special grandchildren, Ryan (Kristen) Oldham and Lauren Oldham; special great-grandson, Zachary Michael Oldham, whom she adored; a brother, Michael (Alana) Tressa, of Arizona; a sister, Barbara Schultze, of Texas; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews; and her beloved companion, best friend (baby boy), Bentley. Veronica will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Edward Church, Herminie.
