Vincent A. "Vince" Steban, 74, of Greensburg, formerly of Herminie, died Wednesday, March 7, 2018, in Forbes Regional Hospital, Monroeville. He was born Dec. 1, 1943, in Indianola, son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna M. (Fisher) Steban. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, Paul Andrew; two brothers, Larry and Michael Steban; and a sister, Frances Roberts. He was the last surviving member of his family. Vince was an Army veteran. Prior to his retirement, he was a USDA inspector, having worked for the government for more than 35 years throughout the region. In the early 1980's, he pursued a career as realtor, and was currently a landlord, having rentals throughout Westmoreland and Fayette counties. Vince was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg, Lions Club in West Newton and Knights of Columbus. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and was a very hard worker and always provided for his family. Vince is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Mary Jane (Bartok) Steban; two sons, Jon Eric Steban, of Greensburg, and Mark A. (Dawna) Steban, of Sutersville; a daughter, Mary Beth (Kenneth) Birks, of Pittsburgh; three special grandchildren, Ashley, Michelle and Nathan; his two favorite dogs, Moose and Daizi; and several nieces and nephews. Vince will be dearly missed by his family, many friends he made over the years near and far and special neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Edward Church, Herminie. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Vincent Cemetery, Latrobe.
