Virginia E. Walak, 80, of Herminie, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2022, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. She was born May 3, 1942, in Herminie, a daughter of the late Charles and Cecil (Luke) Fullerton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Nelson Walak; two brothers, Gary Fullerton and James Fullerton and his wife, Mary "Tinka;" and a sister, Nancy DeWalt and her husband, Dale. Prior to her retirement, Virginia worked at Jeannette Hospital as a cook for more than 20 years. She was a past member of the Herminie United Methodist Church and a social member of the Herminie VFW Post 8427. She loved puzzle books, GameBoy, going to bingo and watching game shows. She also loved going out to eat at "McNally's" and then going shopping. Spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always made her smile. Virginia is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Andy N. "Nelson" Walak; two sons, Leslie "Les" (Shelly) Walak, of Irwin, and Terry (Jennifer) Walak, of Herminie; her daughter, Lisa Walak, of Herminie; seven special grandchildren, Josh, Justin, Terry, Christopher, Courtney, Alicia and Caleb; 12 special great-grandchildren, Haylee, Damein, Breonna, Alyana, Kian, Caia, Sophia, Trevor, Arlo, Kinzly and Cameron and Xavier; a sister-in-law, Sherry Fullerton of Maryland; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Virginia will be dearly missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home with Pastor Barry Henck officiating.
